Remember that water tower in the background of the previous photo? Just a few years ago, a little bit of height would make my legs shake uncontrollably, making a climb like this physically impossible. But then I decided to go skydiving and get over my fear. (See #BDB_heights for a photo of it.) I believe facing our fears as directly as possible is the best way to seize control over them.

This photo was snapped by my brother @jasondavis95. The photo of the leaves you can see inside the letters, however—that was a photo I took while at that spot.

Another edit I did from photos @ashley_zap took for me.

Making these images with people is really just part of the reward. I have to say, it's been so amazing getting to use this as a way of connecting with real people all around the world on a heart level, and the support and interconnectedness of the Instagram community (which includes you!) has made it possible. I don't feel like I deserve it, when I find out I've made a lasting difference in people's lives (or that I've saved someone's life). I can only keep pressing on and faithfully doing what I believe is good and right. All around us are real people with real joys and real hurts, and artmaking is a powerful way of achieving that honesty that is so lifegiving.

Despite how little editing I did of this photo that @jasondavis95 snapped of me, I had a hard time pulling it up on my phone to work on for you guys this morning. I'd forgotten just how deeply I miss my family after I see them (which is only 1-2 times per yer). My heart is aching for them right now.
