Up up and away. An intern at the National Weather Service Station prepares to release a weather balloon with GPS tracker. They rarely ever have the GPS units returned once they parachute back to earth. I recommended they pass the GPS coordinates, once landed, to #GeoCaching clubs to see if they could up the return rate. They had never thought of that. With a cost of $100-$500 per launch - twice daily at over 90 sites across the USA it could save some big coin. #NOAA #weather #nationalweatherservice #weatherballoon
