I have no idea sis @augcott but it has beautiful star like flowers. There must be oils in the plant because every year I go and cut off what sticks out from the golf course fence-and it's fragrant for at least year-

The flowers are lovely. A monarch landed on my fence the other day. It stayed for about an hour then I realized I should have taken a picture.

I was seeing monarchs everyday, laying eggs, and now...no butterflies and no eggs! And today one of the two big cats I had left turned onto a deformed chrysalis that I need to euthanize and one in a j hang with my fingers crossed. I had counted fifteen this weekend and the wasps got the rest. I also learned something else this weekend, the big cats can't handle an extreme temperature change...I tried to bring them in to protect them from those wraps and they fell off the plant and started vomiting gee

Oops...green and rolling around immediately so I took them back outside. I used what netting I had left to cover them but those wasps can get to them if they climb on the netting. But today I did find some babies who are now inside...they don't seem bothered by the temp change like the big ones.

Kim-you have such terrible obstacles with your babies. Those wasps sound horrible and I'm glad I don't have to deal with them. Can u imagine what goes on in nature with these critters?

@tanyiatabouli there's this great website http://www.learner.org/jnorth/monarch/. You can track this amazing journey these butterflies take. If the monarchs pass through your area and you have milkweed (where the females lay their eggs and the only plant the caterpillars eat) then u can raise them. Hope that helps.
