This is not Royston, I'm considering grooming Royston this summer, it's his first time so any advice would be very welcomed.

it depends on the dog. some will grow their hair back, and some won't, there's no telling which will happen until you've done it. :c however, people will say that shaving the dog down helps for summer heat, but i've also heard that that is not true. apparently the undercoat helps to cool the dog down as much as it does to keep him warm when it is cold... he would be cute either way, but personally i think it's better to leave the hair...why not just take him to the groomer to be brushed out? here, a lot of places will do a brushing for either cheap or free, but i'm not sure if there are places where you live that will do the same :c

Royston has such a gorgeous black coat!!!!I would only do a scissor cut that way the groomers won't have the chance ruin his coat. I shaved Andres beautiful black coat and now his body is completely gray. I actually like the colors but I do miss his black coat. The cut also makes him less matted after all of his adventures outside!!

I'm thinking of cutting my boys hair to but I'm not going to shave it off I'll just cut it low ... Mainly cause I'm scared it doesn't grow back

I have been told by many pom owners and my vet and groomer that shaving the fur on a Pom ruins the thickness and will never grow back the same, if it even groww back at all. They have a risk of forming fur dysplasia as well. Royston was the reason I wanted a black pom, because of that gorgeous black pommy fur, trim all the ends by scissors and clean it up so it isn't so tangled, just don't shave him! Their little fur coats might look like they make them very hot but it is insulated and is designed to keep them cool in summer and warm in winter. Be cautious of what can happen :)

@elizabethmareee thanks for the advice. I'm not going to shave him exept his feet and underbelly. The rest just trim I think. @laurieana I'm scared too. X

That's alright! :) it will be okay and little Royston will be much happier with a less tangled coat :)
